 New Model ONJ 720. The ONJ Tender 720 will be presented at the coming HISWA in september. The ONJ Tender 720 is the little sister of the ONJ Tender 820.
The concept of the boat is based on a maximum speed of exactly 20 km/hour (11 knots).Therefore, a license and registration will not be required in The Netherlands. The ONJ Tender 720 will be built at a lower weight. Less weight means less fuel consumption. With the newly developed underwater hull, the boat will achieve the speed with an inboard diesel engine of about 30 hp. With 20 km/hour on rivers and open water the Tender will be as fast as many displacement launches. The "slide" over the water will decrease fuel consumption, and it will be very easy on the rudder, which is generated by a hydraulic system with a large steering-wheel diameter of 70 cm.
A straight shaft with water lubricated inner- and outer bearings powers a three-bladed propeller. Compared to the 820 the Tender 720 will be equipped with a smaller bumper around the ship which contributes to her lower weight. To be able to offer a competitive price, the standard vrsion 720 is fitted with a polyester slip-cover which can be orderer in different colors. The boat is built in polyester.
On the many small canals and lakes, there is an increasing trend that boats longer than 7.20 are not permitted to sail fast. At the Loodsdrechts Plassen this rule is already in effect. With a width of 2.40 meters, the ONJ Tender 720 will also be able to cross the smallest bridges.
All these cost saving changes are reflected in the price. ONJ wants its Tender 720 to operate in a new market and offers a standard 720 Tender for below 50,000 euros. (Exact prices are subject to change and will be shown at HISWA te Water).
It is surprising to see how the 720 interior is similar as the 820. Will the 820 therefore compete with her own brand? No, according to ONJ: "the 820 is a faster and larger allrounder built for speeds over 30 knots (50 km/h). Powered by the technically advanced Steyr 6-cylinder 250 hp, the forces are playing an entirely different game".
