Profile Pilot 920 Open
The Pilot 920 Open has been released in the summer of 2008.
Positioning
The introduction of the ONJ 920 sees us enter a new market segment and offer existing ONJ owners more options for taking the next step up with our yard.
It had become clear that the jump from a 770 to a 1020 was too large for some people. The 920 offers a more logical progression within the ONJ range, both in terms of price and size. New clients will also find this an attractive concept between the 770 and 1020.
Reasoning
There are various reasons why our clients opt to buy a larger boat than a 770:
- More standing height (especially applies to workboat owners)
- They no longer want to collapse the table in order to make a bed. Now with a double bed.
- A permanent seating area. Pilot sailors prefer this to be
positioned in the wheelhouse so that they and their guests have good
views when seated.
Another consideration is the desire to sail faster, although this does not necessarily means they want high speeds. In general, people find a cruising speed of around 18 knots to be sufficient, without too much spray.
Good looks
People are very content with the appearance and style of our boats and like to see the ONJ look in new models. The 920 takes this fully into account within a fresh and contemporary design.
Versions
Our client base includes both true workboat fans and sailors that swear by the Pilot concept. With this in mind, the 920 will be available in both versions. The names will reflect the increasing international profile of the ONJ brand: The ONJ Pilot 920 Open and the ONJ Pilot 920. As there is a clear demand in some countries for boats with two engines, both 920 models will be available in single and twin engine versions.
Price
The price of a standard 920 is currently set at €130,000 for a Pilot Open and €145,000 for the Pilot. This includes a 33 hp Vetus engine and the standard specs of the 770s.
